8 More Days to go

Wow, it seems as this 8 week Coding Immersion camp has flown by and only 8 more days of class to go.  I can say I am happy that I am actually figuring it out and I love the challenge.  Though there is way too much information and different ways to code for anyone to know it all.  The key is being able to Google and find the information you need to finish what you are working on at the moment.  I had a moment on Tuesday night.  Several people in my class were getting the same “pending migration error” when we attempted to add an avatar to our website and I had gone to bed irritated the night before because I could not figure it out. Tuesday night my moment happened when resolved the problem (via Google) for all of us at 10:30pm and posted it for everyone to see.  Needless to say, I slept great that night, not haunted by that error.

I am leaning towards being a front end developer, as I like making things look great (what you see when you look at the website).  Though at the moment, I would like to continue to learning both front end and back end developing as I like to know how and why things work.

Tech Talent South has given me a great experience! They have gone the extra mile to do anything and everything to help us learn programming and to find jobs.

On Thursday they sponsored a Resume and Insights workshop with three speakers.  It was a great workshop.  A shout out to the three speakers:  VP of Sales and Marketing – Catrina Vienrich at EmployUs, Managing Consultant – Ashley Mikulski with Procom Services consultant and GapJumpers – Business Evangelist Heidi Walker.  They gave us great advise and how to pursue a career as a Website Developer when you are just starting out, assisted with what should be on our resumes and the one thing that stood out: companies will hire people who are referred than from a resume submitted directly to the hiring company.

The best thing about programming is your are always learning something new and you are not stuck in one industry!  Everyone has a website and as long as there are websites, there are programming jobs.  Not a bad thing if you ask me. 🙂

I can say without a doubt this is the best decision I ever made and I will never regret it.

And a huge Thanks to Tech Talent South for helping me get there!!
